It is important to keep your Windows Operating System up to date. If you are not sure if it is up to date you have a couple of options.

If your windows operating system is not up to date, you leave your laptop at risk of vulnerabilities or non-responsive hardware.

Option 1 - Do this if you have been updating and want to check the latest updates.

Option 2 - Do this if you know you have lots of updates to do - you have not updated for more than 12 months. When updated, you will need to allow about 30 minutes to restart (this is quicker than multiple updates)

Option 1 - Check Windows update

Do this if you have been updating and want to check the latest updates.

Press the windows key or magnifying glass

Type Settings and Select this

In the search bar that appears, type Updates and choose check for updates

To Check all updates, click on "Check online for updates from Microsoft Update

Note: If you have not updated for a long time, you may need to repeat this process multiple times in between restarts.

Option 2: Use Windows Update Assistant

Do this if you know you have lots of updates to do - you have not updated for more than 12 months

Go to Windows 10 Update Assistant - Windows 10 Update Assistant (microsoft.com)

Choose download the Update Assistant - Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

Click on the Update now icon - Note - you will get the very latest build of Windows 10

Download and launch the application > Choose Update Now

You will be able to carry on working while this is occurring.

When you are prompted to restart to update windows, you should allow up to 60 minutes for the update to occur.
